Kwale County Natural Resource Network is an environmental group driving towards sustainable development by linking three sectors within society: community, private sector and the relevant governmental departments. This network was initiated with the knowledge that the local Kwale livelihood groups lack the knowhow and boldness in seizing development opportunities. It is also a mandate of the network to sensitize the community members on their rights and also lobby for them from relevant authorities.

Who We Are
Kwale County Natural Resources Network (KCNRN) is a platform established in 2011 initially was registered as a CBO but in 2019 was elevated and registered as a NGO under section 10 of the NGO Coordination ACT. It empowers communities to demand integrity, accountability and responsiveness to their needs and expectations. The Network aims at sensitizing; advocating and mobilizing communities in Kwale to play an active role in Community Empowerment on Policy and enhancing community stewardship in Natural Resources Management, forest restoration and conservation, Social Accountability and Policy Reviews/formulating policies aiming to shape the way are managed and enriched. The Network is promoting partnerships, networking and collaboration at various levels with like-minded organizations to ensure effective implementation of its com implementation Kwale County Natural Resources Network was incepted to ensure sustainability in natural resource management, active community participation in policy formulation/reviews and good governance. Its operations are tripartite, i.e., emphasize Private-Public Partnership (PPP) and participation of relevant government officers as ex official. The Network has so far made some contributions towards the management of natural resources in Kwale County, especially in mining, forestry, mangrove and marine sectors. The Network has been engaging community groups, County Government, NGOs and Private companies. In the process, the Network has been broadly accepted as a platform for the community to engage with other stakeholders on issues of natural resource management and governance. Despite these achievements, there is a lot more that the Network could do with better planning and guidance. KCNRN’s vision is for developed and sustainably managed natural resources for posterity, and to realize this, the network and its partners will remain committed to promote community livelihoods in Kwale County through development of sustainable and participatory natural resources management in Kwale County. The realization of the vision and mission will be morally enforced by its core values of commitment, team-work, transparency, professionalism and integrity
